Green Homes Grant
About Green Homes Grants
Vouchers worth up to £5,000 will be issued to homeowners in England to make their homes more energy efficient under a new Government scheme.
The primary measures include various types of insulation, for example
- under floor
- solid wall
- cavity wall
- flat roof
- room in roof
- insulating a park home
Can I use the Green Homes Grant towards the cost of replacing my UPVC Windows?
Yes – If you install at least one primary measure, you can use your voucher to help cover the cost of a secondary measure – for example:
- double/triple glazing (where replacing single glazed windows)
- secondary glazing (in addition to single glazing)
How much will the Green Homes Grant vouchers be worth?
Up to £5,000 per household.
If you have energy efficient improvements made to your home, the Government will pay for at least two-thirds of the cost of the work – up to a maximum of £5,000 per household.
For example, a homeowner installing loft insulation (a primary measure) worth £3,000, along with replacement windows worth £3,000, would only pay £2,000, with the other £4,000 being paid for by the Treasury.
However those on low incomes could see the Government cover full costs, meaning they wouldn’t have to pay anything towards the work.
For these households, the vouchers could be worth up to £10,000.
Don’t forget, green improvements to your home such as triple glazing could also cut your energy bills, with the Government saying families could save hundreds of pounds a year as a result.
Who will be eligible to get a Green Homes Grans voucher?
The Treasury told us it doesn’t yet have further details yet about what the eligibility criteria will be to access the scheme, but says it aims for over 600,000 households in England to be upgraded.
More details about who can access the scheme will be announced in due course – we’ll update our page with more information as soon as we have it.
How can I apply for a voucher?
The scheme is set to be launched in September 2020, and homeowners will be able to apply online at this point.
Homeowners will be shown energy efficiency measures which the vouchers can be used for, and recommended accredited suppliers.
Once the supplier has provided a quote and the work has been approved, a voucher can be issued.
CWD Improvements are working closely and monitoring the situation to be one of the first to offer this new deal from the government. At CWD Improvements we will offer products such as triple glazed windows along with our A rated double glazing products. We are also monitoring to see under the green homes scheme which composite door ranges will be available. We will be updating this page with content as we know more about the green homes scheme.
